Essential and Desireable Requirements for Young Ambassadors

Esssential

  • Able to inspire other young people
  • Excellent communication skills – with both adults and other young people
  • Ability to show initiative and take responsibility.
  • Ability to portray a positive image and be a good role model to young people.
  • Be organised and have good time management skills.

Desireable

  • Involvement in other areas of school life such as School Council, peer mentoring, representing school teams etc.
  • Sound presentation skills

AREA SPECIFIC

Performance / Gifted & Talented Ambassador

The Performance/ Gifted and Talented Ambassador will be a pupil who is currently performing and/or competing at a regional, national or international level sport. The young person will have demonstrated

    • Commitment to improving his/her own performance over the next 12 to 15 months
    • Is well respected and a considered a role model by staff and fellow pupils in his/her school
    • Knowledgeable and able to articulate the impact and benefits of sport and physical activity to a wide audience, including peer groups.

    Leadership and Volunteering Ambassador

    The Leadership and Volunteering Ambassador needs to be a young person who is currently engaged in various aspects of Step into Sport This may include:

      • Previous or current exposure to Sport Education.
      • Previous or current involvement in leadership awards such as Level 1 in Sports Leadership (JSLA) or Level 2 in Community Sports Leadership (CSLA), and/or NGB awards
      • Previous or current involvement in the delivery of TOP Link festivals of sport for young people.
      • Engagement in volunteering – either in their school, other schools or in the community setting
